Phil Neville's luxurious city centre penthouse and Andy Carroll's Essex mansion were two of the most viewed properties on Rightmove this year.

The former Manchester United star's swanky apartment on Beetham Tower's 45th floor was the third most clicked-on property in 2019.

Boasting four double bedrooms overlooking the city, it's not hard to see why so many people want to take a peek.

Neville tried to sell the penthouse in 2010, putting it on the market for £4m.

In 2013, the price was then slashed to £3.75million in an effort to secure a sale but unable to find a buyer, Neville rented the plush pad out for a reported £15,000.

It is understood that former Manchester United man Morgan Schneiderlin had been renting the property from Neville, until recently.

It's now back on the market for a cool £3.5million.

The most-viewed property on the website was Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll's nine-bedroom Essex mansion.

Known commonly as 'Carroll Castle', the huge property includes a home cinema, two dressing rooms, a games room and an eye-catching surprise in one of the bedrooms - a huge mirror ceiling above the bed.

It's on the market for just under £5million.

Rightmove data scientists totted up each click to crown five homes as the the most popular listings on the website in 2019.

Other properties in the top five include a grand Scottish castle and a 400-year-old country manor.

Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: “It’s great to see such a brilliantly diverse variety of homes available on Rightmove and it’s no surprise to see these five properties at the top of our list.

"Each Christmas I’m always curious to see which homes have sparked the most interest across Great Britain throughout the year and suffice to say the properties with the biggest personalities or quirkiest features are usually the most popular.

"Whether you’re seeking interior inspiration or just want to peek inside truly remarkable homes, Rightmove is the place to satisfy all your property desires.”
