They said my dad died of a heart attack. It's taken us nearly ten years to find out the truth

A daughter who waited for nine years for the truth about her father’s death says she can now move forwards after a coroner ruled he died as the result of hospital neglect.

The findings of an original post-mortem into Allan Porter’s death were overturned at an inquest.

As a result of his family’s campaign for justice, the deaths of 25 other patients will now be reviewed.

The doctor who carried out the post-mortem has since been sacked and a full investigation is underway.

Cash machine stolen from shop

Police are appealing for help after a cash machine was stolen from a shop.

Burglars forced open the shutters of A to Z News on Wigan Road, Westhoughton and took the free standing cash machine.

The incident happened at 2.30am today.

The offenders left in a pick-up style truck towards Wigan.

Police believe a second vehicle might have been involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 5757 quoting reference 0181 of 14/06/19. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

I need £9,000 for surgery to save my Toy Poodle - or he will have to die

A ‘heartbroken’ dog owner is raising funds for life-saving surgery for her beloved Toy Poodle.

Samantha Elliott, 33, has been told her dog Coco needs an operation costing £9,000 after being diagnosed with a slipped disc in his back.

She says that if he doesn’t receive spinal surgery, she’ll have no choice but to put the three-year-old Poodle down.

Car and van smash on the Metrolink network

A car and van have collided on Metrolink tram tracks in Droylsden.

The vehicles have since been cleared, but there are still some minor delays to Ashton services.

Passengers affected by the delays can use their tickets and passes on the 216 and 217 bus services.

It is unknown at this stage if there have been any injuries.

M6 closure

If you are travelling south today be aware a section of the M6 is shut following a collision involving two cars and a HGV.

The motorway is sealed off between J13 Stafford South to J14 Stafford North.

It is understood the lorry has slipped down an embankment.

Transport bosses play on Love Island catch phrase

Transport bosses are back at it with their witty traffic signs, this time with a Love Island theme.

In a series of creative traffic boards, Transport for Greater Manchester have now turned their hand to this summer’s hottest TV show.

Their latest stunt targeted a board on Princess Road for travellers heading towards the city centre this weekend.

The ITV2 hit show which encourages contestants to ‘couple up’ for the chance to win a cash prize, is now well into it’s second week.

Fans of the show may have been amused by the sign which plays on this year’s favourite catch-phrase ‘it is what it is.’
