A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a fall from a bridge over the M60 earlier this morning.

Police were called shortly before 6am to reports of a concern for welfare for a man, close to junction 20.

GMP says he is believed to have fallen from a bridge. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No further details have been confirmed about his condition.

The M60 and Rochdale Road were closed for an hour, until around 7am, while GMP, North West Motorway Police and the North West Ambulance Service attended.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called at around 5.45am this morning to reports of concern for the welfare of a man on the M60 clockwise, close to junction 20.

"A man is believed to have fallen from a bridge. He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries".
