With Valentine's Day being one of the most popular days of the year to propose, no doubt there will be plenty of brides and grooms already on the lookout for the perfect venue to say "I do."

In November Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand popped the question to girlfriend Kate Wright on a helipad at Abu Dhabi's St Regis Hotel, watched by the pundit's young children, and at the start of the year Coronation Street star Faye Brookes, who plays Kate Connor, announced her engagement to Pop Idol finalist Gareth Gates.

Gareth proposed at a friend’s high-rise apartment in New York with a four-carat diamond ring and a 17-minute song that he had written for his lady, played on the grand piano, and the couple both cried.

Both of these romantic proposals which tugged at the heartstrings bode well for the big day.

If Kate and Rio and Faye and Gareth are looking for inspiration, here are some of the locations chosen by other famous faces for their wedding and honeymoon.
