Dancing On Ice contestant Saara Aalto was left stunned by Christopher Dean's judgement of her skating in this week's showdown.

The former X Factor star was amazed when the Olympic skating legend took a swipe at her after her performance with pro skater Hamish Gaman.

Saara and Hamish performed a never-seen-before trick called 'bladebanger' which saw the singer spun around by Hamish with the blades of her skates.

Unfortunately Chris wasn't keen though.

Asked to point out his problem with the final move, he said: "Saara doesn't have to do anything she just lies back and enjoys the ride."

"Oh my goodness," she cried as she struggled to take in what he had just said, and host Holly Willoughby stood open-mouthed.

"She has to be so brave," argued Holly.

"She has to be brave but it's all in his feet," argued Chris.

Not to take things lying down Saara retaliated that she'd been "crying all day" because she'd been so nervous about the new move.

Acid-tongued fellow judge Jason Gardiner, who was next to give his verdict on the ITV skating contest , slammed Chris as 'misogynistic.'

"Not to be as misogynistic as Chris but what I do like about this couple is that you're fully committed when you're out there," he said.

Viewers took to Twitter to defend Saara.

"Comments a bit harsh on Saara," said one.

Christopher Dean a bit unkind to Saara," tweeted another.

"'Saara Aalto doesn't have to do anything'. Except put her life in Hamish's hands!" defended another fan.

"Scoring on Saara is so unfair!" wrote another supporter.

Another said: "She tries so hard and attempts a dangerous lift yet she has no credit for it. No hate on James but even when he makes mistakes he gets higher marks?? "

And another fan wrote: "Saara & Hamish weren't in sync but she was brave being swung around by her blades for sure! Chris is nuts smh."
