Manchester United fans believe that the race for a top four spot in the Premier League has been blown wide open after Chelsea's defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.

The London side currently occupy the fourth spot after a brilliant start to the season under Frank Lampard, but their form of late has started to deteriorate.

Saturday's 1-0 loss at home to Bournemouth means they've lost four out of their last five league games after defeats to Man City, West Ham and Everton.

Ironically, since United lost 1-0 to Bournemouth themselves at the start of November they haven't lost a game in the league and have picked up impressive victories against Jose Mourinho's Tottenham and cross-town rivals City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's recent form has lifted them up to fifth place after languishing in mid-table for much of the campaign and now have a massive opportunity to gain on the side above them.

Should United continue their good form and defeat Everton on Sunday at Old Trafford they will move within two points of Chelsea.

The fixtures over the festive period are in United's favour, too, as Chelsea face away trips to Tottenham and Arsenal before the end of the year, whereas United three teams in the bottom half of the table.

Not many people predicted United to be in with a shout of qualifying for the Champions League and United fans are now desperate for the team to take advantage of Chelsea's slip up and pile on the pressure.
