Manchester United have confirmed seven pre-season friendly fixtures for their U23 side this summer.

Neil Wood's side were officially promoted to Premier League 2 Division One last Friday and the hard work is well underway for their return to the top-flight.

United's reserve side is set for a different look next season with the club eager to loan out a number of players currently on the fringes of first-team action.

Tahith Chong remains in talks with Werder Bremen over a loan deal, while James Garner and Dylan Levitt have both also been made available for loan as they go in search of first-team football.

Wood is eager for his youngsters to get up to speed with proper men's football in order to prepare themselves for the promotion and as such they will be facing a number of Football League sides this summer.

United U23s kick-start their campaign against Salford City, before matches against Swindon Town and Morecambe. They will also face Macclesfield Town and Doncaster Rovers, with matches against Everton U23s and Stoke U23s also arranged.

"It’s going to be a hard pre-season,” Wood told club media.

“Last year, we had the experience of the EFL Trophy and it looks likely that we could be part of that again. I wanted the lads to experience some first-team friendlies this year before we even made that tournament because they are challenging in themselves. We’ve got games lined up against the likes of Salford, Doncaster, Macclesfield and Swindon."
