Axel Tuanzebe says John Terry has played a key role in his development during his second loan spell at Aston Villa.

The Manchester United prospect, who turned 21 on Wednesday, has made 16 appearances for Villa this season and kept his place in the side despite the departure of manager Steve Bruce last month.

Dean Smith was named as the former United defender's replacement, with Terry his assistant, and Tuanzebe says the former Chelsea captain is readily available with helpful advice.

“I have a good relationship with John," he told manutd.com.

"He helps me a lot every day and continuously gives me pointers on how to improve my game.

"He is always available for when I need him and offers himself to help me and the team."

Villa have won three and lost two since Smith took the reins at Villa Park, with Tuanzebe playing every minute.

And the defender says the experience is standing him in good stead for reaching his ultimate aim of playing for the first team at Old Trafford.

“The new manager and his team have been great with me," he explained.

"They have shown faith in me by giving me the opportunity to play in such a disciplined position.

"So I am really thankful because I feel like I am improving under his guidance. We want to keep the form and high energy going!

"Villa is an amazing club filled with amazing people so, for me, the journey has been positive.

"I feel like it will only improve and hopefully lead me back to Manchester, where I will want to play week in and week out."
