Dean Henderson has said he doesn't know where he'll be playing his football next season as Sheffield United retain hope of keeping him on loan following their promotion to the Premier League.

The goalkeeper spent the 2018-19 campaign at Bramall Lane and impressed as the Blades sealed a second-placed finish in the Championship, securing their return to the top flight for the first time since their 2007 relegation.

Henderson is currently gearing up for the under-21 European Championship with England and speaking ahead of their opener against France on Tuesday night, Henderson said: "Who knows where I will be next season?"

Sheffield United's manager Chris Wilder confirmed in May he is hopeful he will be able to call on Henderson once more come August.

"First and foremost we've got a huge amount of respect for Man United and the way they've been with us," Wilder told  Sky Sports.  "We've had two or three loan signings from there and they've been great and they (United) recognise that we are a decent club for their young players to come and gain valuable experience.

"Dean's had a season in the Championship, we d love that to happen (for him to return to Sheffield United), whether his ambitions get realised is down to Dean.

"Hopefully we can seal that one and crack on with that. we'd love Dean to come back."

With David de Gea's position at United far from certain, the temptation for Henderson could be to wait and see how the Spaniard's situation pans out before making a decision on his immediate future.

De Gea will soon enter the final year of his contract at United. Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the former Atletico Madrid stopper but it is the MEN's understanding that United are happy to keep hold of him at the risk of seeing him leave for free next summer.
