Manchester United's past, present and future could all be on show when Jose Mourinho's men take on Juventus in the Champions League.

Sadly for United fans, the best player that will be on show on Tuesday night belongs to the club's past: Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese is not United's greatest player of all time but he is arguably the greatest player to have ever represented the club.

It is the task of United's scouts and academy coaches to find and develop youngsters into players capable of replacing club greats - and there are three stand-out players currently coming through the system: Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong.

Here's a quick look at each of them as United prepare to face one of their own this evening.

Tahith Chong

The man of the moment.

It wasn't so much of a surprise to see him train with the senior side on Monday morning but it was a bit of a shock to see him report to United's team hotel with the rest of the first team in the evening.

His form over the past months - four goals and two assists in just three appearances - has forced him into contention for a place in the matchday squad against Juventus.

Chong arrived at United as a skinny 16-year-old winger two years ago but he has bulked out slightly since then and is working towards the physique required to play top-level senior football.

His style is similar to that of Gareth Bale, in that he uses his long legs to gallop away from opponents before invariably getting a shot or cross away with his dangerous left foot.

Chong's finishing has never really been discussed as one of his major strengths but his strikes against Middlesbrough, Valencia and Sunderland were all clinical.

Mourinho made it clear during the pre-season tour that he has high hopes for the teenager and you suspect he will make his first-team debut very soon.

Manchester United vs Juventus build-up

Angel Gomes

Nowhere near as tall or physical as Chong but Gomes is every bit as skilful as his U23 teammate - if not more so.

The diminutive playmaker, a natural No.10, is a magnificent talent on the ball and a year ago you would perhaps have expected him to be in the senior squad ahead of a big Champions League match.

Gomes became the first player born this century to feature in a Premier League match when he came on for United against Crystal Palace in May 2017.

Angel Gomes is one of United's top young talents

However, he's not been seen in the first team since and Chong, it seems, has surged ahead of him in the pecking order.

The 18-year-old remains a supreme talent and has an encouraging record this season - four goals in eight games - and it won't be long before he's back in the first-team mix if he continues that fine form.

Mason Greenwood

The only striker of the three, Mason Greenwood's popularity has shot up this season thanks to a number of match-winning performances at youth level.

He's bagged a phenomenal 13 goals in 10 appearances across the U18s and U19s, many of which have been unbelievable solo strikes.

Mason Greenwood has 13 goals in 10 appearances this season

The 17-year-old, who signed his first professional contract with United earlier this month, joined Chong and Greenwood on United's pre-season tour of America in the summer and has trained with the first team already this season.

Greenwood is left-footed like Chong but he scored a hat-trick of goals with his right foot against Blackburn last month so one-footedness isn't one of his weaknesses.
