Greggs has teamed up with Manchester Airport to conclusively confirm which of their baked goods will make it through airport security.

The 'flight safe food guide' has been drawn up after the bakery chain found many customers in their airport shops asking whether they could carry their purchase through airport security with them

Strict safety rules mean that passengers are not allowed to take liquids, gels or pastes larger than 100ml through security.

But although pastes are a no, pasties are fine.

All Greggs bakes are safe to take to the airport with you, including steak bakes, sausage bean and cheese bakes, and sausage rolls - both meaty and vegan.

Toasties and sandwiches are also fine, as are fruit pots, pizza slices, bacon rolls and doughnuts.

Banned items that you'll have to scoff before you reach security include granola yoghurt pots, all drinks, porridge pots and soup.

Greggs has two branches at Manchester Airport, with one in both terminal one and terminal two.

The airport is expecting more than 20 million passengers to travel through during the summer season, and with school holidays in full swing, now is the peak period.

A Greggs spokesperson said: "We’ve noticed a growing number of customers asking us on Twitter whether they can take their favourite Greggs product through security, or even with them on their travels, so to make things easier for travellers we’ve teamed up with Manchester Airport to help confused customers."

Manchester Airport’s social media manager said: "We’re often inundated, across our social media channels, by passengers asking what is ok to take through security and what isn’t.

"For more than a decade liquids, gels and pastes have had to be under 100ml and in a clear re-sealable bag, but we often find confusion when it comes to food.

"It’s therefore great to join forces with Greggs, which actually has one of its most popular shops at Manchester Airport, to provide this handy advice, which I am sure will prove popular with our 29 million passengers, and at other airports across the UK."
