An ice tiki bar is opening at Manchester Christmas Markets this year, serving tropical cocktails in sub-zero temperatures.

Guests will be given thermal capes to keep them warm inside the frozen venue, which will be chilled to -8ºC.

Ice sculptures of Easter Island's monolithic Moai statues will decorate the bar, which promises a Polynesian party atmosphere - only with quite the opposite temperatures.

Cocktails including supersized ice bowls to share will be available to buy along with warming shots and fruity mocktails.

The bar will form part of the Ice Village in the Cathedral Gardens market site, which opens on November 8 and runs until January 5.

The site will also be home to a covered ice rink, an ice slide and an ice cavern filled with frozen sculptures of mythical creatures.

The bar, which formed part of the ice cavern last year, will be a separate ticketed attraction this year.

Admission costs £15 and includes one cocktail or mocktail served in an ice glass. You can pre-book sessions now via SeeTickets .
