DELAWARE - A person of interest in an attempted burglary turned manhunt in Delaware County has been arrested on an unrelated warrant out of Marion.

Jason Deel, 33, was arrested Tuesday morning on a failure to appear warrant issued by Marion Municipal Court earlier this month.

It was in relation to a possession of a drug abuse instrument charge filed in October, according to online court records.

The arrest occurred after Deel was approached by deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff's office at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday after matching the description of a burglary suspect.

The office's spokeswoman Tracy Whited said Deel was spotted after driving by Harris Road in Delaware County, roughly a mile away from where two burglaries had occurred earlier that morning.

She said he was wearing a dark colored jacket. A description given by a witness earlier that morning described the burglary suspect as a very large man wearing a dark colored hoodie.

Deel was brought in for questioning and was later picked up by officers with the Marion Police Department in relation to the warrant out for his arrest.

Whited said he is still listed as a person of interest in the burglary case, but that could change as deputies work on getting additional information.

Two burglaries were reported on Carters Corner Road in Sunbury, between 5:50 and 6:18 a.m., Tuesday morning.

The second incident ended with the homeowner firing multiple shots at the suspect, who fled the scene by foot into nearby woods.

The suspect's van was left behind near the residence, which had been struck by a bullet. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Columbus and contained several items believed to have been stolen as well, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's office.

A massive manhunt followed shortly afterwards, according to a release sent by the office. The search of the area was scaled back around noon and deputies are asking anyone who might have information related to these incidents or suspect, to please call 740-833-2800.

No additional arrest have been made as of Tuesday afternoon, Whited said.
