The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission is looking to hire investigators to perform inspections of the licensed marijuana establishments in the state.
The commission tweeted Thursday about the career opportunity, stating the investigators would ensure the retail locations, product manufacturers and cultivation centers across the state have an “understanding of and compliance with laws, rules and regulations.”
The position entails visiting the marijuana establishments across the state to complete regulatory compliance audits and assisting with the registration and licensing compliance process for the facilities, according to the job posting.
A Cannabis Control Commission investigator can make up to $80,000 a year with benefits.
The commission is seeking candidates who have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a writing intensive discipline and at least three years of investigatory or inspection work, among other qualifications. The CCC is accepting applications through July 5.
On Nov. 20, 2018, the first recreational marijuana sales were made at New England Treatment Access, or NETA, in Northampton and Cultivate in Leicester.
Now retail sales of recreational marijuana for adult use has been approved for more than 20 license holders in the state.
Adult use marijuana sales across the state as of Thursday have reached $125 million since Jan. 1 and gross sales since retailers opened in November 2018 total $139 million, according to data provided by the CCC.
