Springfield shooting victim shows up at Mercy Hospital, police investigating

Springfield police detectives are investigating a Sunday evening shooting that left one male wounded and under treatment at a local hospital.

Springfield Police Capt. Robert Strzempek confirmed that a gunshot victim was brought to Mercy Hospital by private car just after 7:20 p.m. This as police officers investigated a report of shots fired in the area of Quebec and Indian Leap streets in Indian Orchard just after 7 p.m.

Uniformed officers were searching the area of the shooting when police received work that a wounded individual showed up at the hospital.

Strzempek could not confirm the age of the victim nor his condition at the hospital.
