Springfield police on scene of shooting in city’s North End; victim in serious condition

SPRINGFIELD - City police are on the scene of a reported shooting on Huntington Street in the city’s North End that left one injured.

Several cruisers are on the scene near Main Street, and officers could be seen placing evidence markers on the ground.

Springfield police spokesman Ryan Walsh said police were notified of gunfire by the Shotspotter system at 2:20 p.m.

An injured man was taken by private vehicle to Baystate Medical Center with what are described as serious injuries, he said.

The Springfield Police Detective Unit is investigating, he said.
