SPRINGFIELD — Family services provider Square One and the Lego Community Fund U.S. cut the ribbon Tuesday on the Cornerstone Therapy Center for children who have experienced emotional trauma.

Lego awarded a $125,000 grant to support the center. Square One said its goal is to provide therapy to individuals and small groups of children, using interventions that are trauma-focused and evidence-based.

“Our center was designed to provide therapeutic support in a nurturing, safe environment where our children can receive emotional support needed for them to learn, heal and grow,” clinical therapist Christa Colly said in a statement.

“Many of our children and families are experiencing hardships and unique challenges that require this level of specialized programming,” said Square One President and CEO Joan Kagan.

The Cornerstone Therapy Center is located at the Tommie Johnson Child & Family Center, 255 King St., Springfield.
