Vermont State Police arrest 2 Springfield men for drug trafficking

Two Massachusetts men were arrested on drug trafficking charges after Vermont State Police raided a home and found heroin, marijuana and a gun.

After an investigation, Vermont State Police executed a search warrant at about 7:40 p.m., Saturday, in a home at Park Street. Inside they found 212 grams of marijuana and 160 bags of what is believed to be heroin.

Eric Vasquez, 26, and Alex Rodriguez, 23, both of Springfield, were charged with heroin trafficking and possession of marijuana over two ounces.

Vasquez was also arrested on a felony warrant in the raid, police said.

State Police officials said they are investigating a .45-caliber handgun found in a bag belonging to Rodriguez to find out if it was in his possession legally.

Vasquez was held on $10,000 cash bail and Rodriguez was held on $25,000 cash bail at the Barre City Police Department. Both are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Washington County Superior Court, police said.
