Holyoke attorney David Hodge nominated for superior court judgeship

BOSTON — Gov. Charlie Baker on Wednesday nominated Holyoke attorney David Hodge to be a superior court judge.

According to a biography provided by the governor’s office, Hodge has worked in criminal defense and civil litigation at Marien & Hodge PC since 1998. He handles cases related to personal injury, workers compensation and landlord/tenant disputes, in addition to criminal matters.

He previously worked as a public defender in Hampden and Hampshire counties. Before that, spent eight years doing civil litigation at Hegarty, Marien, Battista & Hodge.

He is chairman of the board of directors of Alden Credit Union and is on the board of the Hampden County Bar Association. He previously chaired East Longmeadow’s Appropriations and Finance Committee.

Hodge has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Saint Anselm College and a law degree from New England School of Law.

“Attorney Hodge’s years of work in both private practice and as a public defender have well-prepared him for a position on the Superior Court,” Baker said in a statement.

Hodge’s nomination now goes to the Governor’s Council for consideration.
