Niche recently released its “2020 Best Places to Buy a House in Massachusetts” rankings, which looks at housing markets, “including home values, taxes, crime rates, and quality of local schools, in an attempt to measure the quality and stability of an area’s real estate market,” according to ranking and review website.
The number one slot to buy a house in Massachusetts went to Hopkinton, the the town best known as the starting point of the Boston Marathon, while a Worcester County town came in at number two.
Western Massachusetts wasn’t left out of the list. Pelham and Longmeadow made it into the top five.

21. Sharon
The Norfolk County community received high marks for public schools and good for families but got lower marks for weather and cost of living. The community has a population of 18,400, according to the most recent Census data available, and the median home value is $539,500.
20. Paxton
The Worcester County town got high marks for public schools and outdoor activities but got lower marks for weather and nightlife. The community has a population of 4,870, according to the most recent Census data available, and the median home value is $309,500.
19. Lancaster
