Snow is forecast to hit Massachusetts this weekend.
Four to eight inches of snow is expected across the interior of the state from Saturday night through Sunday morning, and coastal communities are expected to receive two to four inches, the National Weather Service said.
The possibility of heavy precipitation is also expected over the weekend, with rain and a wintry mix probable early Sunday morning across the state.
“Expect temperatures to trend upward through the weekend due to the system moving through,” the National Weather Service said. “Highs on Saturday range from the mid 20s to the mid 30s. Readings on Sunday range from the mid 30s to the low 40s.”
A light snowfall as well as rainfall are expected Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Less than an inch of snow will fall in Berkshire, Hampden and Hampshire counties, and similar amounts may be seen in Middlesex and Worcester Counties.
Wednesday’s snowfall and precipitation are expected to stop Thursday morning.
The winter weather comes less than a week after record-breaking warmth hit the state, with Boston and Worcester both setting record January highs of 74 and 66 degrees respectively.
