Hail, wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour possible in Massachusetts Saturday

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch Saturday ahead of storms expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds Saturday.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for the following counties: Bristol, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester.

Isolated hail storms with hail measuring up to the size of a ping pong ball is possible Saturday as is frequent lightning. Strong winds are expected with scattered gusts up to 70 miles per hour and at times torrential downpour is expected.
