Up to three inches of rainfall expected in Massachusetts Tuesday, Wednesday

Ready for more rain?

The National Weather Service reports widespread heavy rainfall is expected Tuesday morning through Wednesday night.

Rainfall is expected to be heaviest on Tuesday - when flooding is possible in areas of poor drainage - and scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday.

Expected rainfall varies across the state, from one to three inches. While initially Southern Central and Western Massachusetts were expected to see the worst of it, the storm is tracking further west in the state than expected earlier this week. Now, most of Western Massachusetts can expect two-to-three inches of rainfall while Central Massachusetts should expect up to two inches.

This week's storms follow heavy downpours last week in Massachusetts, which dropped as much as six inches of rainfall in the state.
