Google Wednesday released its 2018 Year in Search, celebrating the most unique searches across news, politics, film, entertainment, sports and more throughout 2018.
Below are the top trending search lists for both the national and metro Atlanta-specific search data. Note these are top-trending searches — those that had the highest spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2018 as compared to 2017.

Other notable national results include:
o Stacey Abrams was the top trending searched politician, followed by Beto O’Rourke, Ted Cruz, Andrew Gillum and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
o “Black Panther” was the top trending movie.
o Mac Miller’s loss was the top trending, followed by Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain.
Compared to the rest of the country, Atlanta wasn’t as interested in searching for Anthony Bourdain (No. 5 U.S.), Stan Lee (No. 8 U.S.) or Demi Lovato (No. 9 U.S.).
