FREMONT — Two days after a San Jose man died in a hit-and-run crash while on his motorcycle, police are still stymied in their quest to find witnesses.

Alfred Legaspi, 28, died after being rushed to a trauma center following the Wednesday morning wreck on Mission Boulevard at the Brown Road intersection. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office released his identity Friday.

Police have identified a person of interest, but they have not made any arrests. They contacted a man who’s the registered owner of the vehicle that hit Legaspi’s motorcycle, along with a woman who is the man’s associate, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.

Both were at a motel close to the crash scene, but how they got there remains a part of the investigation that police haven’t solved.

Police found the vehicle running with nobody in it after they arrived to the 5:25 a.m. wreck.

“That’s a well-traveled stretch of road, but nobody has come forward who may have seen somebody who was fleeing,” she said. “We could really use some information from somebody who saw something.”

According to police, Legaspi was driving east on Mission Boulevard, and a vehicle going in the opposite direction tried to turn onto Brown Road directly in front of him.

Police have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

They also encouraged anyone with any information on the crash or who may have seen anything out of the ordinary to call 510-790-6800, ex. 3 and ask for a traffic officer.
