Navigation center location
may be a win for Fremont

Re: “Fremont unveils 11 possible sites for a homeless navigation center” (Eastbaytimes.com, July 5):

The Niles community asked for the criteria to be put in place and for a more open process. I appreciate the city is now moving in that direction.

I am pleased to see a city center location away from FUSD schools.

If we go strictly by the criteria set forth by the Fremont City Council, the City Hall rear parking lot looks to meet most criteria for the homeless navigation center. It would be advantageous to have it near social services, close to the police department and hospital.

It will be a location that will offer the homeless a good start to straighten out their lives. The city staff along with the Bay Area Community Services operator will be able to work closely together, and monitor progress.

For all concerned, this location could provide the success the city desires.
