CONCORD — A man who tried to race away from police by going down the wrong way of a road that connects the city with Walnut Creek crashed into a police car and was arrested early Saturday, police said.
Robert Coleman, 22, of Bay Point, is suspected of evading police and causing injury; hit and run causing injury; possession of a large capacity magazine for a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm; concealing a gun in a car; possession of marijuana for sale; and violating his probation, police said.
The two officers in the patrol car both were treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released, police said. Police chased the car on Clayton Road near Farm Bureau Road.
According to police, Coleman crashed into the patrol car while trying to turn into lanes of Clayton Road while going the wrong way.
Coleman remained in custody without bail at the county jail in Martinez on Tuesday.
