A family say they found insects in their bath and spotted a rat from a window during a horror at at a Holiday Inn.

Danny Fuller, his pregnant partner Shauner Proctor, 19, and their six-month-old daughter were forced to move rooms after he allegedly discovered “beasties in the bath” at the Hull Marina hotel.

The 35-year-old, from near Edinburgh, booked the room for August 5 having already enjoyed a number of pleasant stays at the hotel, Hull Live reports .

But Mr Fuller is adamant he found silverfish in the bathroom of his executive room at the hotel and, a day later, was left disgusted after allegedly seeing a rat from his hotel room.

The hotel says the rat was not on its property and housekeeping teams say they found no bugs in Mr Fuller’s room but his experience prompted him to cut short his two-night stay, with the family eventually booking into another hotel in Leeds.

Mr Fuller said: “I’ve stayed in this hotel five times before and it really has gone downhill. The silverfish were in the bathroom on the floor and on the windowsill and this was in an executive room.

“You pay a premium price and it’s supposed to be more luxurious.

"This is the fourth time in 12 months I’ve stayed here and it’s never been bad but it has really deteriorated.

“We didn’t get there until 10.15pm on Monday night and by the time we’d changed rooms from executive to standard it had gone midnight.”

Mr Fuller was happy to move rooms and was later convinced to stay another night at the hotel on Tuesday, August 6.

However, after allegedly seeing a rat from the window of his room he decided to leave over concerns for the safety of his partner and their young child.

“We won’t come back after this,” Mr Fuller said. “We were debating all afternoon whether or not to stay and I wanted to go but the rat was the last straw for us.

“My partner is pregnant and my daughter was sleeping in a travel cot and because there were rats running around I decided we would find somewhere else to stay.

“Holiday Inn is brilliant but this hotel really let us down.”

Mr Fuller has since posted a negative review of his experience at the hotel on the Holiday Inn Hull Marina Facebook page.

In it he details the bugs and rats he allegedly found and criticises hotel staff for “pressuring” him over an £11 payment he needed to make.

The hotel staff said they contacted Mr Fuller because his card declined multiple times and the hotel has confirmed Mr Fuller has been refunded for both nights.

He says he paid £90 for his initial stay on Monday before using loyalty points accrued as an InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Rewards Club member to pay for his stay on Tuesday night.

A spokeswoman for Holiday Inn Hull Marina said: “We are sorry Mr Fuller was not satisfied whilst staying with us.

"We can confirm he has now been refunded in full for his two-night stay.”
