A first class row has erupted after building work left a postbox bang in the middle of a home-owner's driveway.

The man, who does not want to be named, spent thousands of pounds widening the drive and having a set of gates installed right next to the 100-year-old distinctive red mailbox.

But it now sits right in the middle of the driveway, sticking out like a sore thumb among brand new paving and making it barely accessible for any vehicles passing in and out of the property.

The bizarre setup alerted local councillors, who have since received complaints from residents about the work and are investigating whether it meets planning regulations - which needs to be done by the letter of the law.
