A new mum was brutally beaten after refusing to give someone a cigarette.

Sharna Pearson was left crying and shaking in fear when a large group attacked her as she made her way home.

The 18-year-old has released shocking pictures of her wounds after undergoing hospital treatment, as police investigate the assault in Cramlington, Northumberland.

Sharna, who gave birth to baby girl Miylah six months ago, said she was burnt on the chest with a cigarette and bitten on the eyebrow as her attacker tried to gouge out her eyes, Chronicle Live reported.

She said : “I was terrified, she just knocked me to the floor and started kicking and punching me. She then bit my eyebrow and it was only after that I realised I had been burnt on the chest by a cigarette.

“There were about 13 of them all crowding around me and a few of them were shouting and encouraging her on.

“I couldn’t stop crying, I was so scared, I was shaking.”

Sharna’s nightmare began on Friday, March 22, as she walked near Seven Oaks Park in Cramlington, between 9.30pm and 10pm.

She had been out with her friend, Shannon Burns, celebrating moving into the new property.

Sharna realised her phone needed charging and went to her mum’s house nearby.

On her way back to the pub all hell broke loose when she was confronted by the alleged attacker.

“I was walking past the park when one of the girls asked if I had a tab," Sharna said.

"I said no because I was smoking my last one. Then another girl asked if I had any drugs, but again I said no because I don’t take them.

“It was then that girl just jumped on me. She pulled me to the floor, she was punching and kicking me and then she leaned over and bit my eyebrow.

"She was going mad and her friend even eventually pulled her off.

“It went on for about five minutes but it seemed a lot longer. I tried to defend myself but couldn’t. I didn’t know what to do, I was scared, I tried to stop her but couldn’t.

"I was soaked in blood, crying, my face was fully covered in blood. She called me a f***ing animal when I ran away.

“I’m telling my story because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. I was absolutely terrified.”

"She was shaking, she was an absolute wreck, she couldn’t stop crying.”
