A heartbroken woman has paid tribute to her partner who died just days after Christmas when he was run over by a car as he lay in a road.

Fraser Ross died after being hit by a Land Rover Defender as he lay in the road in Stirlingshire, Scotland.

The tragic incident happened just after 11pm on Thursday.

The dad-of-one, who was 29, was lying on the road when the car came around the corner, reports the Daily Record.

The Land Rover, which was being driven by a 53-year-old man, ran over Fraser, who was alone at the time.

He suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fraser's heartbroken partner Carly Jane Tripney paid tribute to him describing him as her rock.

Speaking about their two-year-old daughter, she said: “My daughter has no dad and I’m devastated for her. My man had everything to look forward to.”

Fraser was on a night out with his pals when the incident occurred.

He enjoyed a night out at the Allan Bridge Social Club but it remains unclear how he came to be on the road.

The road was shut until the early hours of Friday morning. A black private ambulance was later spotted leaving the scene.

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact police as they try to establish the full circumstances of the accident.

Inspector Andrew Thomson, from the road policing unit in Stirling, said: “Our deepest sympathies are with the family of the pedestrian at this time and we will continue to provide them with all the support they may require.

“The driver of the Land Rover stopped immediately following this incident and we have taken a statement from them.

“But we are keen to hear from other motorists or members of the public who may have been in the area and witnessed exactly what happened.”

Fraser's friends paid tribute on social media and tributes were left at the scene.

Krisi Johnman said: “Rest easy wee man, you will be sadly missed. Thoughts are with your family. Til we meet again.”

Steven Hutchison said: “Such a sad day for anyone who knew Fraser Ross. Absolute gent of a guy will be sorely missed.”

Andy Berrie added: “Fraser will be sadly missed by the guys at work. He was a great guy, pleasure to have known him.”
