FA chiefs have banned an England fan who tricked his way into the Nations League game in Croatia.

Supporters were banned from the stadium in Rijeka after Croatia were punished for a swastika being scrawled on a pitch in 2015 and insisted the England game was played behind closed doors.

But one England Supporters Travel Club member managed to get into the ground, tricking his way through security and then at the final whistle even bragged to the press box that he got in before posting pictures on social media.

FA chiefs made him collect his tickets for the next game with Spain in person and have now told him that he is banned from the ESTC pending any appeal.

The game finished goalless in Rijeka, though the Three Lions will be kicking themselves.

Marcus Rashford, especially, missed several glorious chances to grab the win.

Gareth Southgate's side would eventually go on to beat Spain, in Seville, with Rashford finally scoring, whilst Raheem Sterling ended his own drought, grabbing a brace as England went 3-0 up.

They held on for the win despite Spain rallying late to cut the deficit to 3-2, meaning they are in a commanding position to stay up in the Nations League.

Gareth Southgate expressed his disappointment for the fans who usually travel to support the country.

"It’s a shame especially for our travelling fans, who were brilliant for us all summer and so many of whom haven’t missed an England game for years," Southgate admitted at the time.

“That’s unfortunate for them in particular.”

Fixtures have not been released for England's games beyond Croatia at Wembley on November 18.

Though the fan, an appeal withstanding, will be banned from attending the Nations League finals, should England quality, next June.

The hosts will be Portugal or Italy, depending on who wins their Group A3, with Poland, previously interested in hosting the finals, relegated.
