Liverpool are contending with a handful of injury problems entering the closing stages of the season.

The international break has perhaps come at a good time for Jurgen Klopp with concerns over their central midfield after their win over Fulham last weekend.

Skipper Jordan Henderson limped off against Bayern Munich whilst Naby Keita has missed their last two games with an injury problem.

They are also in the final stretch of their wait for young defender Joe Gomez to return - whilst young gun Rhian Brewster is looking to feature before the end of the season.

With some key fixtures ahead in the title race, the Reds will be looking to call upon plenty of options to try and get them over the line in their Premier League battle with Manchester City .

Here's a run down of their latest injury situation ahead of their clash with Tottenham at Anfield next Sunday, March 31.

Jordan Henderson

Henderson bravely tried to play on against Bayern Munich with a twisted ankle but was forced to admit defeat and limp off.

He missed their trip to Fulham but has still linked up with the England squad.

Before the international break, Klopp said: "It’s Hendo and Hendo will go to the national team. I think he will have two or three days at Melwood with his rehab.

"But it looks positive, and I think he is in contact with Gareth that when he can train, he goes to the national team. And if he plays, then Gareth will decide.

"It was not that serious. And now in three or four days he should be fine."

The Reds are hopeful his ankle problem will not flare up and he'll be fit to feature against Spurs in their next fixture.

Naby Keita

An unspecified injury caused Keita to miss Liverpool's last two games against Bayern Munich and Fulham.

He's not travelled with the Guineu squad during the international break, instead working on rehabilitation with the Reds.

Klopp revealed they were set to make a late call on whether he could train last week and he should be back either for the Spurs game on March 31 or shortly afterwards.

Joe Gomez

Gomez has been a long-term absentee after suffering a fracture to his leg against Burnley in December.

He is expected back in full training after the international break, and whilst he looks unlikely to be rushed back into the side against Tottenham he can be called upon if needed.

"Very positive," Klopp said about Gomez. "Joe is not even in the everyday updates (on players who are out), so that is all positive.

"We all expect him to be back after the international break – in full training, and then we will see how long it takes."

The midfielder made his comeback from his long-term injury in an Under 23s game earlier this month.

He limped off after 40 minutes with an unrelated problem, believed not to be serious, having only planned to play the first half.

Klopp insisted after the game he is still on track and could have some part to play in the closing stages of the season.

“It’s not really surprising, it’s normal," Klopp said after his comeback. "The good news is the knee is perfect – nothing happened, that was our only concern.

“Football games are different to football training, that’s why he felt the muscle a little bit, and thank God we were smart enough to take him off, even if it was only five minutes earlier than we thought [before the game].

"That made absolute sense. Nothing else happened.”

Rhian Brewster

Young gun Brewster looked close to his first team breakthrough when he damaged ankle and knee ligaments that both required surgery in an Under 23s game against Manchester City in January 2018.

After a long road back to fitness, the teenager is back in full training ahead of schedule and could be called upon in the run-in.

“Rhian (Brewster) trained, looked really good, but he is in the situation Ox was maybe in three weeks ago. In a really good way," Klopp said.

It's unlikely he'll feature until April at the earliest as he looks to build back up to full match sharpness.
