Arsenal are ready to make a bid for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney after Unai Emery convinced the board he would be a shrewd signing, according to reports.

Emery is under pressure to strengthen Arsenal this summer as he looks to return them to the Champions League places this season.

But the Spaniard has small budget to work with compared to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Man City.

Tierney could cost upwards of £20million, but Emery has identified him as his top transfer target this summer and has reportedly made his feelings clear to the Gunners' board.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Arsenal could make a bid for the Scot in the coming days.

Tierney was a Manchester United transfer target last summer but the Red Devils failed to make a solid bid for the left-back.

Luke Shaw seemingly got wind of the situation and pulled his socks up in pre-season training, catching the eye of then boss Jose Mourinho, who returned him to the first team.

Tierney is contracted at Celtic until 2023, which puts the Glasgow club in a good position where negotiations are concerned.

Arsenal recently saw themselves priced out of a deal for Yannick Carrasco after Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang made it clear they wouldn't be lowering their £30million valuation.
