Piers Morgan bullishly demanded to know the intimate details of Iain Stirling's love life - before being savagely put in his place.

The Good Morning Britain host hectored Love Island's Iain into telling him whether or not he and girlfriend Laura Whitmore are engaged yet, but the Scottish comedian had other ideas.

"You're on Love Island, but actually you're with the beautiful Laura Whitmore," Piers told Iain, who is currently in the villa ahead of tonight's launch.

"A) How have you managed to do this? and B) when are you going to make an honest woman of her?"

Susanna Reid gasped at her co-host's audacity, telling him: "So personal and unnecessary! It's not your business."

A taciturn Iain told Piers: "I mean, there's many people who would discuss personal matters with Piers, sadly I am not one of them."

Piers burst into awkward laughter, saying: "Alright then Susanna, you have a go. I don't think the Love Island narrator can get all coy about his love life."

"I don't think being the Love Island narrator means you are obliged to talk about your own love life," Susanna remonstrated.

Iain said: "I couldn't agree with you more, Susanna, and I think your little friend sat next to you should listen to you more because you speak a lot of sense."

Sitting with his arms crossed and more than a hint of redness in his face, Piers then demanded to know why he should bother tuning in to this year's series watching "brain-dead zombies".

"The show's an entertainment show, Piers; it's about fun, it's about laughter and not taking yourself too seriously. I think you should tune in to a couple of episodes, it might help your general persona and the mood of people around you," Iain burned him.

Laughing again to cover up the awkwardness, Piers then brought up original 2019 Islander Amy Hart, who has revealed she once met the GMB presenter on a flight.

Air stewardess Amy Hart revealed she once met Piers on a plane - but didn't say anything about him being her favourite celebrity passenger (

"The only one I do like from this crop is Amy, who has gone public by saying I was her favourite celebrity passenger on board British Airways when she was a stewardess, so she's definitely got my support," he grinned.

"You know what they say, Piers - everyone's got a weird fetish and that's clearly hers," Iain deadpanned.

He and Piers then agreed to their usual charity bet of £1,000 if every single Islander couple has split by January 1, 2010 - in which case Iain must pay out a grand to the mental health organisation Mind.

However, if even just one couple are still together by the New Year, Piers will have to cough up the same amount.
