Two couples were left devastated on Love Island after Caroline Flack revealed which islanders would be leaving the villa.

Lucie Donlan was in floods of tears after Joe Garratt, who she has been coupled with since the start of the ITV2 show, was given the boot by viewers.

There had been controversy among viewers as they questioned Joe's 'controlling' behaviour and it seemed to cost him his place in the villa.

Joining him and heading for the exit was new girl Elma Pazar, who had been coupled to Anton Danyluk but nobody was convinced that they would make it as a pairing and Elma paid the ultimate price.

This should please Maura Higgins, who had been calling out Elma for muscling in on her wooing of newbie Tom Walker.

Maura was not happy that Elma was going to make a play for the guy that she had lined up in her sights, in time for the next coupling.

There seemed to be a case of a short-term memory loss after Maura had tried her best to take Tommy Fury from Molly-Mae Hague but wasn't so impressed when those moves were being made on 'her man'.

Elsewhere, Yewande Biala had been hoping to find a model perfect man to share her time in the villa but after Danny Williams declared his feelings for her, Yewande got decidedly cold feet on the situation.

Her insecurities from relationships past are not allowing Yewande to commit to the coupling like Danny has and it could ultimately cost her the chance of finding love in the villa.

The question now is will Lucie stay in the villa and see of she can find a connection with another man, or will she walk out after Joe?

There is certainly going to be plenty of tears and heartache in the coming episodes.

*Love Island airs all week at 9pm on ITV2.
