Radio 1 broadcaster Adele Roberts has swapped her DJ booth for the Australian outback for the next few weeks to become an I'm A Celebrity campmate.

Unlike some of her fellow stars, Adele's appearance on the ITV entertainment show is by no means her first shot at reality TV.

Adele, 40, first burst onto screens as a contestant on Big Brother Series 3, where her outspoken ways and catty rows with Jade Goody made for TV gold.

After disappearing from the limelight, Adele returned in a big way by landing herself an enviable job at BBC Radio 1.

But ahead of her appearance Down Under, here's everything you need to know about Adele - from her famous girlfriend, TV past and those Jade Goody showdowns.

Big Brother

Southport native Adele was working as a DJ and personal assistant when she signed up to experience the Big Brother house in 2002 during the Channel 4 heyday.

She became one of 12 original Series 3 contestants after impressing producers with her rapping audition tape.

It was a stellar year for housemates - launching the careers of Jade Goody, Alison Hammond and winner Kate Lawler.

Adele was an instant hit with viewers and became the focus of a lot of male attention in the house with many of the guys admitting they thought she was the hottest girl in the there.

She engaged in flirty banter with bodybuilder Lee Davey before revealing to him that she bi-sexual and had a girlfriend waiting for her on the outside.

Adele and Lee became close pals in the house - more so than Adele and Jade Goody who it's fair to say weren't always on the best of terms.

Adele said she regrets some of her time on Big Brother

In one of their many, many rows Adele mocked Jade for having a verruca on her foot.

It ended with Adele storming out of the bedroom screaming: "I'm gonna f***ing deck her. Seriously."

She later revealed how she bitterly regretted the exchange and wished she could have been a 'nicer person' back then.

Adele said: "Looking back, I carried a lot of guilt about the way I acted in Big Brother and I feel like I let myself down and I could have been a much nicer person."

"I’d like to show a better side to myself this time. To both the campmates in there by treating them better but also to come out and have a positive experience not a negative one."

Adele lasted a total of 43 days in the house before being evicted in 6th place.

After Big Brother Adele returned to her DJ roots and built up her career until she landed a coveted presenting slot on BBC Radio 1.

She also presents TV coverage for major sporting events on the channel including the FA People's Cup and the London Marathon, which she has competed in twice.

Adele's Radio 1 chums have been busy supporting her after she was announced for the I'm A Celeb jungle this month.

Clara Amfo, Mister Jam and Melvin Odoom have all taken to social media since the confirmation to champion their fellow presenter.
