KENNEBEC-A Fort Pierre man charged in November with leading police on a high-speed chase in two counties has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison.
Cory Glatt, 30, was convicted of aggravated eluding on May 23, and the five other charges brought against him were dismissed.
At about 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, an officer, recognizing a maroon Hyundai sedan on Main Street in Vivian as the vehicle that had fled from a Stanley County deputy earlier that day, attempted to stop the car, driven by Glatt.
Glatt did not stop and drove north onto 293rd Avenue, accelerating to up to 90 mph on gravel roads. According to court documents, during the chase, he failed to stop at an intersection, crossed a median and drove north in a southbound lane at 105 mph, crossed into Stanley County and went through a fence twice while entering, exiting and re-entering the Fort Pierre National Grasslands.
Glatt's vehicle crashed and stalled about 30 minutes after the beginning of the chase. Inside, police allegedly found a small metal container containing what was believed to be methamphetamine.

Glatt was taken to the Brule County Jail after being arrested for possession of a controlled substance in schedules I or II, aggravated eluding, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, failure to maintain financial responsibility and driving without a proper exhaust and muffler system.
In addition to his prison sentence of two years with credit for 59 days served, Glatt was ordered to pay $1,215 in fines and court costs.
