Two Pierre residents arrested with meth in car

LAKE ANDES -- Two people were arrested on Oct. 12 in Charles Mix County when meth and distribution paraphernalia was allegedly found in a vehicle.

At 2:07 a.m., law enforcement performed a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Steven Martinez, of Pierre. According to court documents, 27-year-old Chelsey Habben, also of Pierre, was in the vehicle's passenger seat, and the Wyoming plates were not registered to that vehicle.

A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded 3.83 grams of meth in a bag, $801 in cash, syringes, a scale, small bags and a "snort tube."

Martinez and Habben were both charged with unauthorized distribution of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a Class 5 felony.

A urinalysis sample voluntarily provided by Martinez allegedly field tested positive for methamphetamine, and he was found to have an additional $702 on him when transported to the jail. He was additionally charged with unauthorized ingestion of methamphetamine, a Class 5 felony, and substituting plates, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
