SALEM -- A Minnesota man charged in June with driving marijuana and butane hash oil through McCook County was sentenced last week to two years probation.
Riley McCollum, 22, of Mahnomen, Minnesota, pleaded guilty on Oct. 16 to one count of possession of between one and 10 pounds of marijuana, a Class 4 felony.
According to court documents, on the afternoon of June 27, a South Dakota Highway Patrol officer stopped McCollum, who was reported to have been speeding while driving east on Interstate 90.
A search of the vehicle uncovered two pounds of marijuana contained in vacuum-sealed bags. McCollum was originally also charged with having 104 grams of butane hash oil and drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute and driving with a suspended license.
Three felony and two misdemeanor charges were dismissed when McCollum pleaded guilty to marijuana possession.
