PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health announced Saturday, July 18, another 73 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 7,862 confirmed cases.
No deaths were reported by the health department, holding the statewide total at 116 from a disease that has claimed more than 139,000 lives nationwide.
Active cases dropped by 10 individuals, with now 855 reported active cases in the state. One additional individual has been hospitalized, as 70 people remain hospitalized. Of the positive cases, 6,891 have recovered.
There were 1,274 tests conducted Friday, yielding a 5.7% positivity rate, which is lower than the cumulative average, which sits around 8%.

Minnehaha county, which is home to Sioux Falls, has the most reported cases at 3,846, while Pennington has 713 and Beadle with 566.
