When the Lansing School District made its unprecedented decision to cancel its fall sports season on Thursday night, it became the first district in Michigan to do so.

As fall sports plan to officially kick off next week with football on Aug. 10 and the rest of the sports on Aug. 12, schools around the state have been content to fall in line with the coronavirus pandemic recommendations from the Michigan High School Athletic Association, the governing body of high school sports within the state.
