Sometimes, the truth hurts.
That’s certainly the case when it comes to the current state of Detroit sports.
The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA playoffs Monday night to complete a series sweep, sending Detroit to a NBA-record 14th-straight playoff loss.
It also ended the Motor City’s hopes of breaking an even-more dubious streak.
The city now hasn’t won a playoff game in 1,101 days.
The last win?
When the Detroit Red Wings beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in their first-round NHL playoff series on April 17, 2016.
Detroit sports fans are some of the most loyal in the country. They love their teams.
For that reason, fans around Michigan are aware of the sad situation surrounding the Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons.
So, when ESPN posted a Tweet pointing out the futility following the Pistons’ loss, it felt like someone was rubbing salt in a very-open wound.
“Rough time to be a Detroit fan,” it reads.
Rough time to be a Detroit fan 😬

• Pistons: Lost 14 straight playoff games (NBA record)
• Lions: last won playoff game in 1991 (2nd-longest active drought)
• Red Wings: missed playoffs last 3 years after making it previous 25 years
• Tigers: last won playoff series in 2013 pic.twitter.com/W8mz2yLSnd
The teams, and the fans, weren’t happy.
how would you know? 🤔

To be fair, MLive also noted the same thing. But in a slightly nicer way.
“Detroit will rise again, but in the meantime,” the post reads.
Like we said, the truth hurts.
Maybe the Tigers will sneak into the playoffs in October? They did beat the defending-champion Boston Red Sox on Tuesday afternoon.
