Twin brothers charged with assault after brutal attack on man at Detroit restaurant

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office says that twin brothers Dwight and Duane Samuels have been charged after attacking and shooting a man at a Detroit restaurant last week.

The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. June 19 at a Coney island restaurant in the 15700 block of W. 7 Mile Road.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the 61-year-old twin brothers started arguing with those inside the restaurant after being told that the Coney island did not offer “fried mushrooms.” One of the twins is alleged to have been armed with a metal pipe while the other had a gun.

After being told there were no fried mushrooms at the restaurant the men are said to have attacked a 40-year-old man inside. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office says the victim was beaten with the pipe and shot in the face before the suspects fled the scene.

“The victim was waiting for his food when two unknown males entered the location and attempted to place an order,” the Detroit Police Department reported in a previous news release.

“The suspects then began arguing with the patrons inside, resulting in the suspects assaulting the victim and one of them shooting him. After the shooting the suspect fled in a dark color F150.”
