Boy shot in leg while walking in Jackson

JACKSON, MI – A boy was shot in the leg Friday morning in Jackson, police said.

The boy told police he was walking alone about 10:50 a.m. Aug. 23, near the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Rockwell Street when he was shot, Jackson Police Lt. Adam Williams said

Two people in a red Nissan shot him in the lower leg, he told police, Williams said.

The boy was seen limping from the scene and was picked up by a different vehicle, a witness told police, Williams said.

He was dropped off near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and E. Wilkins Street, where he flagged down an ambulance, Williams said. Since the boy was a minor, Williams declined to release the boy’s age.

The boy told police he did not know the people in the car that shot him, Williams said.

He was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, Williams said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Jackson police at 517-788-4100.
