MUSKEGON, MI – The fifth annual Burning Foot Beer Festival on a Lake Michigan beach will feature 80 breweries serving up more than 400 of the Great Lakes region’s best drafts.

Feet may burn on the soft, squeaky sand, but crisp, refreshing beers are expected to cool attendees from the top down. A quick run into the fresh-water ocean will also provide relief from the hot sand.

The beer-focused beach bash will feature a lineup of musical acts on two stages. The festival is also known for its beach camping, art installations and local food options.

Barefooted, beach-loving, beer drinkers will be able to choose from more than 400 beers from 3-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon.

The sun is expected to set over Lake Michigan around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Many festivalgoers will retreat to their beach campsites shortly after that.

Festival organizers shared a sneak peek of the beer list on Facebook ahead of the festival. With breweries still sending in their menus, the list of about 400 beers isn’t complete.

This year, the festival is bringing back the 1990s with some well-known, alternative rock music acts including Everclear and Sponge. Everclear is known for ‘90s hits like “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine.” Sponge, which originated in Detroit, is known for its mid-'90s songs “Plowed” and “Molly.”

Here’s the music lineup:

  • Matt Williams (main stage)
  • Melophobix (main stage)
  • Tropidelic (main stage)
  • Sponge (main stage)
  • Everclear (main stage)
  • Van Mason (Coldbreak stage)
  • Tequila Mockingbird (Coldbreak stage)
  • Upcoast Kin (Coldbreak stage)

The festival also is known to feature art installments. This year, it will have the Hop Up Art Tent with brewery-inspired art by local and regional artists. Attendees will also see the flaming “Hop Tower” installation, interactive charging stations and more.

This year’s breweries come from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
