Saginaw house fire that claimed Lansing man ruled arson

SAGINAW, MI – Police say a recent Saginaw house fire is that claimed the life of a Lansing man was an arson.

Investigators have determined the fire that occurred at 2420 Bancroft St. in the early morning hours of Monday, April 22 was intentionally set. Gregory Cross, 37, died as a result of the arson.

Michigan State Police fire investigators previously said Cross, a grandfather, two grandchildren - ages 17 and 11 - and a 9-month-old great-grandchild were inside the home when the fire broke out.

The grandfather, who was the homeowner, and the minors escaped the residence.

Police did not disclose additional details. They’re asking anyone with knowledge of the crime to call 1-888-44-ARSON.
