Help pick Michigan’s top severe weather events of the decade

We’ve had some memorable wicked, severe weather events during the past decade. Now here’s a way you can vote for what you think was the most significant weather situation.

The National Weather Service in White Lake, Mich. has compiled a list of what it feels are the nominees for most severe weather events across southern Michigan in this past decade.

There have been 16 weather events nominated as the most severe events of the 2010s. Here’s a screenshot of that list of severe weather.

The NWS is turning this into a “Sweet Sixteen” bracket-style vote. Go to Twitter and follow The National Weather Service - Detroit.

Two rounds of four nominees have gone through the voting process. This coming Monday, December 16, 2019, another group of four severe weather events will be ready for a vote. The vote is done through a Twitter poll.

Here’s the first vote:

In that flooding event, four to six inches of rain fell on Detroit-area roadways just before and during the evening rush hour. Many cars were stranded on flooded roadways.

The second set of voting awarded the March 2017 windstorm the most severe weather event in its group.
