Michigan added another four-star recruit to its 2020 class on Wednesday.

Jaylen Harrell, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive end from Berkeley Prep in Tampa, Florida, announced his commitment via Twitter.

"After much consideration and prayer, I am excited to announce that I am committing to the University of Michigan!" he wrote. "God is great and I give him all the glory! GO BLUE!!"

Harrell, who is the No. 13 weak-side defensive end in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports Composite, is Michigan’s first verbal commit since four-star safety Makari Paige in July. Although 247Sports’ two Crystal Ball Predictions were in favor of Florida and Florida State, Harrell visited Michigan twice in the past two weeks.

He had 58 tackles this season, including 11 for a loss and three sacks, according to MaxPreps.com. Harrell also had three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.

“The visit was great,” Harrell told The Michigan Insider's Brice Marich following the trip. “I got to see everything about the school. I was able to meet with the people in the academic department. They have a lot of resources for players to be successful and also was able to talk with the coaches one-on-one and see how I could fit and develop in their program."

Harrell, who holds more than 20 offers, is the No. 303 overall player in 2020 and helped move Michigan’s recruiting class rank up one spot to No. 12 nationally. Overall, the Wolverines have 25 commitments in the class as the early signing period approaches Dec. 18-20. He is one of four defensive lineman commits, ranked second behind Port Huron Northern’s Braiden McGregor.
