Former Michigan forward Josh Norris could soon be making his NHL debut.

The 19th-overall pick in 2017 was called up by the Ottawa Senators on Friday after putting up impressive numbers for the Belleville Senators in the American Hockey League. He is third in the league in scoring with 28 goals and 30 assists in 51 games.

Norris was acquired by the Senators in 2018 as part of the trade that sent Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Erik Karlsson to the San Jose Sharks.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pound Oxford native helped the Wolverines reach the Frozen Four in 2017-18, recording eight goals and 15 assists during his freshman season. He had a strong start to his sophomore campaign with 10 goals and nine assists in 17 games, but a shoulder injury kept him out for the second half of the year.

Norris signed an entry-level deal with Ottawa in May. He could make as NHL debut as soon as Saturday, when the team hosts the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m.
